Who we are

GPEN is a United States nonprofit corporation and the organization responsible for the processing described in this policy.

Information you provide

Depending on how you interact with GPEN, you may provide your name, email address, organization, contact details, messages, preferences, donation or participation information, and other information you choose to include in a form or email.

If you use the GPEN Network, we may process your account email address, display name, profile information, interests, locations, languages, peace-education experience, written descriptions, links, contact preferences, and information related to profile review.

Public Network profiles

GPEN Network profiles are submitted by educators and reviewed before publication. When a profile is approved, the information selected or entered for publication may be displayed publicly in the Network directory. Please do not include sensitive, confidential, or private information in fields intended for public display.

Educators are responsible for ensuring that the information they submit is accurate and that they have permission to share any information about other people or organizations.

How we use information

• To operate, maintain, and improve the website and GPEN Network.
• To respond to questions, requests, and submissions.
• To create, authenticate, review, publish, and manage Network profiles.
• To send essential service communications, such as invitations, sign-in links, approval notices, and review feedback.
• To protect the security and integrity of our services and comply with legal obligations.

Cookies and technical information

We use an essential session cookie to keep an authenticated GPEN Network session working. We may also receive ordinary technical information needed to deliver and secure the website, such as request and device information handled by our hosting and infrastructure providers. We do not currently use advertising pixels or analytics cookies on the GPEN Network.

Service providers and sharing

We may share information with service providers that help us host the website, store data, deliver email, process forms, support communications, or maintain security. These providers may process information only as needed to provide services to GPEN and under appropriate safeguards.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights and safety, to investigate misuse, or in connection with a legal or organizational transaction. We do not sell personal information.

Retention and security

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described here, to maintain records, resolve disputes, protect our services, and meet legal or operational requirements. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards, but no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

Your choices

You may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of information we hold about you, or to ask questions about how it is used. If you maintain a Network profile, you may update the information you control through the profile editor. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request, and some information may need to be retained where required by law or for legitimate operational purposes.

Children

Our services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information to us, please contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our services or legal obligations change. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the effective date. Your continued use of the website after an update means the revised policy applies to future use.
